CEO's Desk

After serving in the Army Medical Corps for 40 years, as a Surgical Oncologist and Professor of Surgery & Oncosurgery, as well as an Administrator in Senior Ranks including my last appointment as DGMS (Director General Medical Services) of the whole army where I headed 220 Medical and Dental Units, there were no shortage of offers for my second innings. However once I was offered the post of CEO of The B.D. Petit Parsee General Hospital, I decided to take up this appointment in September 2019, with a view of addressing the numerous challenges in the Hospital and improving the services offered for the Community.
With this in mind, the last 4 months have been pretty eventful and I think I and my team have been able to bring about changes in various spheres of activity.
We have revamped this website and are in the process of upgrading our IT Hardware and Software. In the last couple of months we have moved towards a paperless office, as well as electronic medical records and pharmacy.
We are in the process of further improving the ambience of this iconic, over a century old hotel turned Hospital. As responsible citizens of the country, we have taken several “Go-Green” initiatives which are detailed elsewhere. These have added value to our USP, as well as contributed to reducing our carbon foot print, tackling pollution and saving water. Awareness about climate change and the need to be environment friendly have been created in the staff.
The level of efficiency and care offered by our medical and nursing staff are being further improved. A new Step-down ICU has been established. New Medical equipment has been bought and more are in the pipeline for the existing ICU (New Ventilator and Bipap machines), O.T. (new laparoscopic set/ O.T. table/ Autoclave etc, to replace older equipment), Physiotherapy department (upgraded to a level comparable with any modern department), Radiology Department (new Ultrasound machine etc), Lab Services (new Automated bio-chemistry machines) to bring us at par with/ or better than other Hospitals. Since the New Hospital project fell through, we are looking at ways to establish certain super-specialty departments/ cost- intensive machines such as CT/ MRI, to further increase facilities for our patients. However one must appreciate that all these require a lot of capital expenditure for equipment, as well as to sustain the operating costs.
Hence we would again appeal to our donors to come forward and contribute generously to help us accomplish our Vision of “Providing quality care with compassion, at an affordable cost” and provide our patients at The B.D. Petit Parsee General Hospital, the best of Super-Speciality Care.
So all in all, there are exciting times ahead and with the Support of the Community we hope to restore The B.D. Petit Parsee General Hospital to its former Glory.
