General Surgery

Dr Balsara finished his Masters degree in Surgery from the BJ Medical college and Sassoon Hospitals in Pune, India in 1982. He did two years advanced surgical training in Gastro- Intestinal surgery at St Vincent’s Hospital in Sydney, Australia. Further short fellowships were at the Paul Brousse hospital in Paris, under Prof. Bismuth in Hepatobiliary and Pancreatic surgery, in Brisbane, at Wesley hospital, he did advanced laparoscopic training in Upper GI and Colorectal surgery under Drs. Les Nathanson and John Lumley. He has also completed a basic training course in Robotic surgery in Seoul, Korea.
Dr Balsara was the first joint secretary of the Indian association of Gastro intestinal endosurgeons and is currently on the editorial board of the Journal of minimal access surgery.
He has published in peer reviewed national and international journals and has authored in three text books in surgery. He conducts laparoscopic surgical workshops in different centers in India and overseas. He is on the faculty of CEMAST which is a laparoscopic training centre in Mumbai and is the co-ordinator of the laparoscopic master class in colorectal surgery.
Currently he is a consultant in Gastrointestinal , Colorectal and Minimal access surgery access at the Breach Candy, Bhatia and Reliance HNH hospitals in Mumbai.
His main interests are Minimal access surgery and Gastrointestinal surgery and Oncology.
